The Happiness List: Words That Move Something Inside You

Over the past few months, I’ve noticed something I never really paid attention to before:
Words can shift my mood – often faster than I realize.
Sometimes it happens right in the middle of an ordinary moment.
I’m not thinking about anything special, and suddenly a word appears in my mind that makes me pause.
Not dramatic.
Not big.
More like a gentle moment of “Oh… right.”
Take the word “joyfulness.”
One single word, and instantly an image appears:
someone laughing. sunshine on a face. a moment that feels effortless.
Sometimes that’s all it takes to switch on a little light in your mind.
And the more I notice it, the more unbalanced our vocabulary seems.
We have countless words for negative emotions.
But for positive ones?
Far fewer.
Maybe that’s why the few positive words we do have feel so powerful when we consciously use them.
They bring back memories.
They create inner pictures.
They wake up feelings that often get buried between stress, routine, and tiredness.
Sometimes they even spark a bit of hope.
And that’s the idea behind this list:
A collection of words that can instantly bring something good to the surface.
Before we dive into the list, here’s a thought that beautifully sums it up:
👉 The words you choose shape the world you experience.

Words aren’t abstract.
They’re triggers.
Memories.
Starting points.
They can shift your mood within seconds –
sometimes even the whole day.
You just need to use them consciously.
Because it’s true:
👉 What you repeat becomes part of your reality.
And positive words are the best place to begin.
Write down three words from the list on a note at your desk.
Every time you see it:
take a breath
& say one of the words out loud.
It’s small – but incredibly effective.
